Football Season

For those of you living under a rock, football season started last week. I'm happy to report that the Colts won their first game of the season, a game where for the first time two quarterback/brothers played against each other.

I like Eli Manning, but he's not Peyton.

I'm not sure if I'm ready for the extreme highs and exterem lows of another Colts football season. Maybe I'll try to get less passionate this year.

Yeah, I'm sure that will work.

If the defense doesn't figure out a way to stop the run and the offense doesn't figure out a way to run, it could be a long painful season with a short post season again. Tiki and the Giants torched the Colts for a 6.6 yds/carry average on the ground, while the Colts averaged 2.4 yds/carry. With no run threat, the play action pass doesn't do much and teams can focus on the pass. Either that has to be fixed soon or you have to hope that the Colts can put up more points through the air than the defense allows.

You are correct, but there are two silver linings to that game.

The Giants have one of the best defensive lines in football. Their line is better than any team in the AFC except for maybe the Steelers and their linebackers are better than everyone in the AFC except for the Broncos (and maybe Steelers as well). Hopefully we can run better against other defenses.

And second, did you see Peyton throwing on the run?! Holy shit, I've never seen him complete that many passes while scrambling his entire career let alone one game. If he can be consistent while moving they really should think of adding some plays that allow him to roll out especially if the play action isn't going to be effective.

But in the end you're right. They have to figure that stuff out.
