Childbirth Class

Last night was our second childbirth class. We were shown a film of women in intense labor and a couple of deliveries.

The nurse teaching the class told us we have an option to put a mirror between Carrie's legs so we can watch the little guy come out.

We both agreed to decline the mirror option.

I'm sure Jason will say you are missing out, but I say GOOD CALL! Of course, I was pretty much ordered to stay focused on Julie's face since we were all concerned about my...um...queasiness with blood.

The C-Section class is on Thurs., I'm going to have to miss it.

Rob and I also declined the mirror. In fact, because I was fortunate enough that my O.B.'s nurse, a woman who I have a great connection with, attended all of my deliveries, Rob stood politely at my shoulder and patted my head, said charming things. I think perhaps by the third childbirth he did look just as she freed her shoulders...

I'm sure its a miraculous thing to see. But you might be OK without it...

Funny, I remember in my childbirth class when they showed us the canula through which they insert the epidural (if chosen). One of the prospective Daddy's was agog at the size of it. I rather pointedly directed his attention the average head circumference at birth and let it go at that. Oh, the fun of childbirth classes!

What got most of the guys and the ladies during our class was when she passed around a ring that demonstrated what 10 cm of dilation looks like. I think it finally hit some of them that 10 cm is nearly equal to 4 inches. The whole metric system confusion thing. :-)

Well, I didn't want the whole mirror thing either and actually didn't even get that option since Chloe was born C-Section, but Jason did get the WHOLE C-Section on camera. The only thing he missed was the placenta. There is a picture of my uterus and one with Chloe's head just outside my stomach, which is actually one of my favorites. He enjoyed watching the entire C-Section. He would bounce back between me and my stomach until Chloe appeared and then he was enamored with her beauty...and then I passed out!

Love to you and Carrie! I can't wait to see the little guy when he is born into this world!

Royal with cheese....Corinne did have the C-Section which I do have documented if anyone would like a few shots. I'm sure that if she went natural, I'd have some photos of that too. Lyman, don't forget to oil your glove, stick a ball in it and wrap it with rubber bands. Got to be ready to catch the little one coming out.
