Euro-style

You may recall me and my Aunt Kathy talking in the comments section a while back about a festival in Spain Tyrell was booked to play. I was told it wasn't going to happen but I just got an email today that says otherwise.

Looks like we are going on a full tour of Europe in July. Countries include Spain, France, Turkey, Italy, and England with possibly more dates to come.

Needless to say I'm looking forward to it.

Is Turkey a safe country to visit?

    I don't know why it wouldn't be.

The sun shines, still, on our golden boy. EXCELLENT! And since its summer, will Carrie be able to join you?

Rob and I are going to Italy in late August---the lake region in the foothills of the Italian Alps. We're celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and life in general. Too bad our paths won't cross there. Man. I'm really pleased for you. You rock, boy; no doubt about it.

And pursuing other conversations that started here---have you seen Capote? Any good music materialize in your mailbox?

Lyman, is there any possibility that you and Steve Tyrell will be performing at the Catalina in LA anytime during the summer?

Carrie won't get to come to Europe as we'll be jumping around and taking a lot of flights. But I'm trying to talk her into going to London for one of our stints there.

I have watched Capote, comments to come.

I did get some music a couple of weeks ago. But my hard drive couldn't take any more rips at the time, I'm currently re-doing my iTunes library so it will go on soon.

And who is that asking about Catalina's??

No plans to play Catalina's but we do have gigs at theaters in Cerritos, Malibu, and Camarillo this summer.

I know what that's like---I'm rebuilding my music library from scratch and its tough to live without my iPod. The only consolation is listening to music on Rob's pc while I rip away on mine.

I bought Matt Penman's "The Unquiet". I think I like it.

Lyman, we are the ones asking about you and Tyrell playing Catalina's during the summer. Ever since A New Standard came out, we have gone to as many of Steve's performances as possible and we really enjoy them, especially when you are there, like at the Catalina, Zanzibar Blue, Birdland, Canyon Club, and the Carlyle. On quite a few of those occasions we had the opportunity to chat with you briefly, most recently in the lobby of the Carlyle before the performance where Frankie Valli (briefly), Lou Christie, and Frankie Avalon joined in what turned out to be an uproaring impromptu bacchanalian song fest!
Dan Ciora who handles Catalina's web site sent us an email recently that said that Catalina's is "negotiating intensely" to get Tyrell to perform there in late summer and that he'll be able to give us a YES or NO answer by the end of April.

P.S. Lyman, my wife Theresa and I are flying to New York on May 6 and flying back home to the midwest on May 7 to take in Tyrell's show at the Blue Note on the 6th. Hope to see you there! Marcel Gagnon
