The Car Search Continues

A friend of mine turned me on to this site CarBuyingTips.com, it provides so much useful information on buying a car I can't begin to tell you how much I've learned. Tips such as finding out your credit score, getting pre-approved for an online auto loan, getting competing online quotes from different websites, and finding out how much the dealer actually pays for the car is going to help a LOT when the haggling over the price of the car begins. It also clues you in on a few scams dealers try to run. Great stuff.

The only problem is I still don't know what I want. The RAV-4 is still the front-runner with the Honda Pilot not for behind. I wasn't impressed with the Nissan Murano or GMC Acadia. I still have a couple more to look at.

For all of you fans of 'The Wire' (and sadly that's probably only Cousin Kathy and I) Amazon has posted some digital shorts that are prequels to the series here. While you're there check out my wish list ... HA!

Ain't nothin' like a robust Amazon wishlist; mine is older than most of my daughters and sees lots of action---check it out!

You know, a couple years from now, everybody is going to be clamoring to borrow our Wire DVD's and we'll just have to make them pay homage to our forward-thinking coolness...

Go for the Honda. The Rav4 is fine as well but as a company, Honda just really can't be beat.

Nice list, boy! If there were just a list for Carrie, a cousin might be completely set up for holiday cheer.

Those Wire clips have me all fired up! If it doesn't come off my List I'll have to take matters in my own hands! Don't you love Bunk and Omar? I've been trying to decide who is the more evil (and fascinating) villain---Luther from Homicide (oooh--he was SO good!) or Omar. It'll take at least two more seasons to figure out!

I would have to go for the Toyota. I grew up with them and now own a 97 Corolla (her name is Rolla) which is going on 140,000 miles. They have been a faithful, low maintenance, good gas mileage car.

I've never had a Honda, Kathy, but I've always had a high opinion of them too.

My last Honda, we drove for *11* years with no major maintenance... it was an amaaaazing car. We had nearly 200,000 miles on it! My family has had many others and they were quite stalwart.

I think years ago there was a difference in performance among Toyotas and Hondas but I do think its so that in the last 7 years or so Toyota has really closed that gap. I'm just very impressed by the longevity of Honda's reputation for reliability. I would imagine at this time that deciding between the Pilot and the Rav4 is more about the details of pricing and personal style preference.

I think the Honda is a little out of our price range (cars are such a bad investment as a whole, I don't like spending more money on them than I need to) unless we go Certified Pre-Owned but I've never had a new care before and I really want one. But I think I will look at the CRV before making the final decision.

And I love Omar, he's like the ghetto Robin Hood. Loved it when he finally got Stringer Bell at the end of season 3.

I know four or five people with CRV's---everyone likes them--no complaints. Dave had to sell his when he moved to Canada and he easily got what he owed on it plus some--I think Hondas hold their value better than most of the mid-price range cars, especially once you move out of the Civics.

I know, I know; Omar is that villain its hard to really dislike or find too much fault with. That's what I love about the show----it really points out how little difference there might be between right and wrong in those places. Where no choice is a good one but some will go further to extending your survival than others... so much moral dilemma! And in the end--its usually "the man" (THEY!) to blame but then again---the man has his struggles, too; right?

For the record, no, you two are not the only ones that dig the amazing TV show. ... Though I have fallen behind a season or two. :P

I've only ever watched it on DVD. But season 5 starts in January and I'd love to watch it live but I've yet to see season 4 yet.
