I have to join a gym ...

... or I'm gonna get fat, fat, fat. I've been researching and it looks like New York Sports Clubs is going to be my best bet. At $125/month it is the best deal. That's still expensive but what am I going to do? There's too much great food in the city for me to just sit on my butt all day long. And I bet getting to bed before 4 AM and cutting back on the post-gig brewskis would help as well.

The weather started getting cold. I was chilled to the bone heading to the gig and I know this isn't nearly as bad as its going to get. Southern California has spoiled me.

Hey, Lyman - your buddy, Drew, directed me to your blog. I live on the Upper West Side, I'm an Indy transplant, and I love living in NYC. I'm guessing you live near Rock Center, which is definitely challenging for groceries and laundromats. You might have luck taking a crosstown bus either east or west - I know there are lots of grocery stores, laundromats, etc. along 3rd Ave and 8th Ave, beyond the tourist and business centers. I belong to NYSC near my apt., and I only pay $80-something, which seems to be the norm for my friends - maybe look for something with a deal going on. But I do like NYSC overall.

Enjoy your time here! Email me if you have any questions at rubysmommyb@aol.com

You ought to check with the staff at the Carlyle and see if they would let you use their gym for free since you are working in their club. They may be just that wonderful. Have you seen any celebs this week? You know me I'm star struck. I got Steve's new cd. I love Something Stupid that he sings with Lauren, I even liked Frank & Nancy's version. She has a nice voice. Have you heard anything about a delivery date for your cd yet? I'm really anxious for that one. Mail me one right away. Have a good weekend. LYFE Mom

The Carlyle isn't close enough to work out at even if they did let me use their gym. The CDs should be done any day now, you know I'm not going to keep it a secret when it drops.

Hello Nephew, I'm glad things are going well in NYC. Do you see that lady herself "Miss Liberty" from any vantage point were to roam?

Lady Liberty is south of Manhattan and I'm staying in Mid-town so I have not seen her while roaming around.

Take the 1 train to South Ferry, walk around Battery Park, and you will see our torch-and-plaque-bearing, toga-wearing French chic. She's pretty far away, though. Get a camera with an ultra zoom lens. You'll be fine.
